The inaugural edition of the Sports star South Sports Conclave, organized by the Hindu Group Publishing Pvt. Ltd., was held at the Taj Coromandel in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on Tuesday (June 28th, 2022).
The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Shri M. K. Stalin was the most important speaker of the day, opening the proceedings with insight into the state’s sporting history and ambitions.
The special invitation and partner of the event FIITJEE global school students and PET teachers of the Chennai campus and Vellore campus participated in the event.
The event started with a keynote address by the chief minister of Tamil Nādu Mr. M K Stalin. He gave a brief note about the futuristic plan for the development of sports in our state through infrastructure and also through the development of cash prices for the highest achievement in global sporting event Olympics. Special prizes were given to young Athletes and veteran achievers.

Chess at Chennai - the session started with a talk by Mr. Viswanathan Anand, who discussed how difficult it was during the pandemic to conduct chess training sessions online which was a benefit to closing the gap between the trainer and the student. Also, the important thing is how the sport of chess became an addiction to some of them which gives a positive impact on the players playing chess and not tiring them during the online sessions. But this addiction turned out to be unhealthy for young students who couldn’t take care of their health and stopped shedding calories and started spending time in online sessions. Some good gains or ideas can be considered, that is not to play repeatedly but one needs to take rest between one game to another during online sessions. A chess engine is needed for the improvement of the analytical part in chess with a basic understanding of the concept and level of the player is needed for the better performance of the players. Students raised many questions as to how to improve chess in the school curriculum and the answer given was very simple a game with the board and the coins that we use to play can improve the knowledge about the game and not only game sense but also a constant follow-up is needed for the better performance with the professional guidelines.
Outcomes: Children through learning this game- Improve cognitive skills (including concentration, pattern recognition, decision making, algebraic and geometric thinking, problem-solving, spatial reasoning, and critical thinking) It also improves their self-confidence and self-worth and increases their attention span and memory capacity. Parents can be convinced by telling such benefits of learning this game.
The way chess can incorporate and relate to core academic subjects make it an amazingly powerful tool. Chess is one big science experiment; every time participants play a game, they are testing hypotheses and learning by trial and error. Through chess, players are required to think abstractly, analyze concretely and plan while juggling multiple considerations simultaneously.
N Srinivasan, the team owner of the Chennai Super Kings, sat down to trace the journey of the Chennai Super Kings, from its inception to its dominance in franchise cricket at the Conclave. He spoke about the set brand apart from the Franchise has gone from strength to strength over the years.
Traced with the many arms of the franchise's evolution, from how they landed MS Dhoni in the first auction to how fans have carried the franchise through its ups and downs over the years. He also spoke about the strategies for building a brand and how unsuccessful they were in selecting players for CSK and the process of the team winning. Further The Indian premier sporting event IPL during IPL bidding for the first time and accused. The other club’s bid for the top players and iconic player’s selection process is arithmetic. “The strategic plan for selecting the player for the team is an important thing when we build a brand”, Mr. M Srinivasan said. He shared how the strategic plan worked out for the brand building during the initial years of CSK and the successful year of winning IPL.
Australian pace legend Glenn McGrath feels that he has "learned a lot" after being associated with the MRF Pace Foundation in the last two years after his initial hesitation to take over the role from Dennis Lillie. McGrath said that "skill and technique" can take a talented bowler till a certain level but it is the "attitude" that determines one's success at the highest level.
McGrath said that the high-performance center or an Academy player or a coach had a different perspective for preparing, planning, and executing. Not only a practice routine discipline for the important process of success but also mental and physical strength is needed for the better performance of the athlete. After the game, “I’ve asked myself why I had a good game or why the game went bad today I’ve analyzed my performance and I think each player needs to do it for their better performance”. They must plan on identifying where to work for the improvement for success. High-performance Centers for each state can be developed so the young aspiring talent can be recognized in global sporting. NCA and MRF pace foundation and other sporting academies can improve and identify young talent for training sessions. NCA gives not only the training for a particular sport but also cross-sports training psychologically and physically and gives the right input that can develop a complete player.
Outcomes: As mentioned a good training session for the players by the recognized foundation also helps in providing recognition to the aspiring talents.
The panelists of the session shared about their Olympic participation how big this event was and also it was the first time how they felt prepared for the event. They shared the first time their Olympic events experience. They also spoke about how the training had improved them to a great event. They talked about the different scenarios in the Paralympic. How preparation and development happen for Olympic events and shared by paralympic.
Mr. Mariappan Thangavelu also suggested more training for the players for participating in the Olympic preparations as of now only a few weeks are left for the forthcoming event. He also advocated for financial help.
Outcomes: Financial funding for better performance. The rural para-athletes need more focus and training aids. It needs support from the government as well as from private organizations to promote the sport. Compared to the previous year's number of participants and number of winners have increased. if we focus more then it will be the best for the future years of Indian athletes who can win more laurels under global sporting events like the Olympics.
This session gave huge guidelines on how technology can assist sports performance and how it assists the sporting supporters who are availing the sports arena for watching the sport on the pitch and preparation time with technology. Technology judges’ performance very well. It enhances the performance of sportspersons using data-driven training practices, Mr. Ramki and Bharadwaj informed. Mr. Ramki added medical technology supports sports in terms of technology and it helps athletes to recover from injury through advanced treatment. Further, he added how to improve the modern sport with video, motion analysis technology, and post-match analysis data.
Narain Karthikeyan is a name that almost every car enthusiast or a person who loves automobiles is familiar with. He became the first Indian driver to race in Formula 1. Although Narain Karthikeyan has left Formula 1 racing, he is quite active on social media and is seen in various car races and online track day videos.
Former F1 driver Narain Karthikeyan, FMSCI Sporting Executive Balakrishna Jayasimha, former F2 driver and Founder of x1 racing League Armaan Ebrahim and Dakar Rallyist CS Santosh addressed the affordability problems in their early experiences.
Meanwhile, Saumil Majmudar, founder of Edusports, spoke about the need to expand the gambit of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. It was also told how the private partnerships are helping to promote sports to the public. Former Indian hockey team captain V. Baskaran, who led India to its last Olympic gold medal in hockey in the 1980s Moscow edition, highlighted the importance of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model in the development of sports. He also expressed his ideas on how sports can be developed with the help of private partnerships. Mr. Ankur Kumar Jain, correspondent of FGS school expressed his idea about motivating a child from school to improve sporting knowledge through a good facility. Also giving opportunities to students based on his/her interest to take part in particular sports.
Outcome:
Sports to be motivated from the grassroots level. Sports must be supported at all levels of sports people who achieve and even who do not achieve but have passion. Sports education is important for developing a better sports personality. (Coach education).
Private and public organizations’ support is important for developing a sporting culture for young people.
In this session, the panel list of international athletes Anju Bobby George Olympian, Anjali Chopra MBA sports management, Alisha Abdullah Indian motorsports driver, and Mitali Raj former Indian cricket captain shared all the difficulties they faced as female sports person. They discussed the following questions.
Parents too did not feel comfortable when eyebrows got raised by society and relatives. Further, a female sportsperson may have difficulties in marriage life and post-marriage life.
To make clearer the benefits of sports it’s a big task in convincing parents /society about the security and safety of taking up sports as a career.
Outcome: Parents and the family have an enormous influence when it comes to shaping children’s passions and interests.
Sport is a great tool for instilling confidence, but it is imperative to underpin this in other areas of their lives and routines too.

The honour of receiving an invitation from the prestigious “The Hindu Group” to a Sports Conclave held at Chennai, on 28th June 2022, bestowed rare insights on our students, who’re ably nurtured and guided by our dedicated sports teachers, as they were spellbound by the speeches and deliberations of the luminaries of sports that galvanized them to understand the key factors of physical, mental and professional growth and ingrained in them the power of reasoning to strengthen the mindset in a world of tough competition with a never-say-die spirit.
Our holistic philosophy is profound in that it does not stop with total academic excellence as a priority but it also gives due importance to sports as a discipline for physical fitness to transform our students into well-rounded personalities. As an outcome of our earnest endeavours in this sphere, we feel euphoric to inform you that our students accompanied by the sports teachers from both the campuses of Vengambakkam and Vellore had the honour of being invited by the prestigious “The Hindu” Group to participate in a “Sports Conclave” conducted by the popular Newspaper and the Group’s premier magazine “Sports Star.” Held on 28th June 2022 at Chennai, the occasion enjoyed the privilege of having the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru M.K. Stalin, as the Chief Guest who while delivering the keynote address underlined the significance & scope of the public-private partnership for the development of sports in the state. The Conclave turned out to be a very proud moment indeed for our students as they enjoyed a golden chance to meet the famous sports celebrities from diverse fields present as Special Guests. Our enthusiastic students relished the lifetime opportunity to talk to Viswanathan Anand (five-time world chess championship), N. Srinivasan (Owner of Chennai Super Kings and India Cements Ltd), Glenn McGrath (Australian fast bowler), Bharat Arun (Former India and NCA coach), Ramesh Krishnan (former Indian Tennis Star) A. Sharath Kamal, & G. Sathiyan (Indian table tennis players), Anju Bobby George (Olympian medallist), Mithali Raj (recently retired Indian cricket captain) ,V. Baskaran (Former India Hockey captain), and Narain Karthikeyan (Former F1 driver). Students were thrilled and awestruck by the fortune of their interaction with the dignitaries when the students’ queries received insightful professional explanations from the legendary players. The legends went ahead to motivate our students to take sports seriously and choose sports as a career. To capture this memorable moment, our students were lucky enough to snap photos with the sports luminaries, some of which have been uploaded to our social media websites. Besides penning down their learning outcomes from the sports conclave, our participants shall present their incredible experience of the Conclave at the school assembly. Sports keep children’s minds fresh, spur physical fitness, and make them disciplined and studious. They further develop in the young mind desirable traits such as coordination, multitasking, situational awareness, and leadership that will contribute to the enhancement of their academic achievements. Thus, our initiatives in FIITJEE Global School help maintain the right balance between sports and academics as they play vital roles in student development. FIITJEE Global School stands for a scientific and global approach to the holistic instruction and development of students. Our sports infrastructure par excellence is undeniable of global standards and our inter-disciplinary initiatives for multiple intelligence are blended with sports activities. Red Day was a wonderful learning activity for the kindergartners in FGS that helped them to learn the concept of primary colours, and this was done by celebrating the Red Day in school. The day started with a vibrant display of red colour in the class room, to mark this day more special the teachers and children were dressed in red attire and the children with red coloured objects spoke about it.
"A sound health is the product of healthy cooking." To create awareness in regard to this, and to also make them understand the nutritional value of food the fire free cooking activity was conducted.
It was a wonderful experience for the children to identify and promote their exceptional talents in different ways. Our children dressed in colourful aprons walked on the corridor with the dishes they prepared to serve everyone in school.

The World Malaria Day was commemorated at FIITJEE GLOBAL SCHOOL on Monday the 25th April. An awareness session sharing much information about the deadly diseases by the student’s picture talk explaining its symptoms and also prevention measures. Students sang songs related to Malaria, skit was performed.
This year's theme for World Earth Day is " Invest in your planet". In Fiitjee Global school the students planted samplings, did different activities and did useful craft using the waste.

National Safe Motherhood Day is observed on 11th April every year. It is observed to enforce that the woman must have the availability and adequate access to care during pregnancy, child birth and postnatal services.
Our LKG children expressed their love to their mothers' by colouring pictures and pasting heart in it.
National pet day celebrated in FIITJEE Global School. This day is celebrated to tell us all about the magic and unconditional love these pets bring into our lives. The children in FGS showed their love by colouring the picture of their pet and also by talking a few lines about their favourite pet animal.

Two expressions of delight for the two groups of graduates who celebrated their academic milestones on 26th March 2022.
Tiny tots were all dressed up with nice attires and performed different activities like singing, rhymes, dance and enacted story's which was appreciated by the audience.

Talent Fiesta was organised by the junior school for the students of classes I to V. Children showcased their talents with poise and credence. This rendered an opportunity for the children to purse in academic excellence and to unravel the creative talent of the young students.
This world wildlife day was an opportunity to celebrate the most beautiful and varied forms of wild fauna and flora and to raise awareness of the multitude of benefits that their conservation provides to people. World Scout Day a day where many current and former scouts all over the world wear their scarves to work school or out in public for recalling the movement’s origin not for just wearing scarves. Scouting is also educating the youth to be gender equality champions. Also all members of the scouting re-affirm their scout promises. Robert Baden Powell and 20 boys started their experimental campaign on 1st August 1907 as the beginning of scouting movement. As scouts this special day needs to be celebrated and this day is not just to remind the world scout scarf day but also the whole scouting movement. Our children have celebrated the international mother language day in an exquisite way and we are in awe of it.
SEWA (Social Empowerment Work in Action) brings together the students and increases their role and responsibilities towards the society, and inspiriting personal development of a child to a great extent. The 9th graders of FIITJEE Global School carried mango saplings, and planted them in empty places in order to restore the ecological balance. Such little steps taken by the school and students will surely help in fostering a strong connect with the environment and also expands one’s bubble of concern to encompass a wider spectrum and aids in creating a generation of committed and selfless people.

World wetland day is celebrated to raise global awareness about the vital role of wetlands for people and planet. Wetlands are valuable for flood protection, water quality improvement, shoreline erosion control, natural products, recreation and aesthetics. This day is celebrated every year on the 2nd February to create awareness on wetlands and to ensure conservation and sustainable use of wetlands for humans and planetary health. Wetlands purify and replenish water. Wetlands provide enormous ecosystem services from flood control, mitigating nutrient losses, biodiversity, groundnut water recharge, sediment traps, and water purification to name a few. Every year Indian coast guard is celebrated on February 1st. It is celebrated in honour of organizations from every country that look after Maritime security and also the need of the country. IGC protects India’ s maritime interest and enforces the maritime law with jurisdiction over the territorial waters of India. The motto of the Indian coast guard is Vayam Rakshamah in Sanskrit which means We Protect. This year we are observing 46th coast guard Day. Children of Grade4 and Grade5 from FIITJEE Global school performed some activities on coast guard to honour the people of Indian Navy.

This day marks the coming into force of the constitution of India on 26th January 1950. As a free nation India has journeyed through several ups and down and has proved its capabilities in every domain of life. The present state of achievements the country has made a promise to see India as one of the well-developed superpowers of the world within just a few years. FIITJEE Global School, celebrated the 73rd Republic Day with patriotic fervour and zeal. A plethora of programmes were organized to infuse the spirit of unity, goodwill and patriotism among the students.
National girl child day is celebrated on 24th of January every year. This celebration was started to offer more supports and new opportunities to the girls in the country and also to increase the awareness among people about all inequalities faced by the girl child in the society. It is celebrated to promote the girls’ position in the society to make their living better among society people. While we are constantly looking at the changing learning landscape during the pandemic, FIITJEE Global School takes pride in dedicating a week for the girl children from the 24th of Jan till 30th Jan 2022. This celebration was started to offer more supports and new opportunities to the girls in the country and also to increase the awareness among people about all inequalities faced by the girl child in the society.
